Abstract:A research has been carried out on the wastewater treatment by pomelo peel, a biomass waste, as a potential and effective low-cost adsorbent. Firstly, an introduction has been made to the physicochemical properties of pomelo peel, followed by an analysis of the reasons for its excellent adsorption properties. Then, a brief introduction has been made to the treatment performance of pomelo peel on wastewater containing heavy metals, radioactive wastewater, printing and dyeing wastewater, organic wastewater, pharmaceutical wastewater, fluorine wastewater, oily wastewater and other wastewater, with a tentative inquiry made into the feasibility of regeneration and utilization of pomelo peel as an adsorbent. The results show that pomelo peel is characterized with a good reusability and high stability, with a potential to provide a feasible, waste-to-waste, environmentally friendly method for wastewater treatment.
