Abstract:Based on a low-cyclic loading experiments on three specimens of short-pier shear wall, one without opening and the other two with openings of 120 and 160 mm, analyzed the effects of the size of opening on the seismic performance of short-pier shear wall. The result indicates that the cracking load, yield load and ultimate load of specimens decrease with the opening size increasing, and its ductility improves, the hysteresis loop is fuller and the energy dissipation capacity enforces. In addition, as the size of opening increases, the specimens is more close to the frame characteristics, and the failure modes of the specimens are flexural failure. When the specimen fails, the web longitudinal reinforcement yields, the flange end longitudinal reinforcement sometimes yields , the web and flange end hoops do not yield, and the web concrete crushes.
