University teaching management can be divided into three basic-levels of university，college and department. As the most basic teaching unit，department- level construction is the key to carry out various teaching work of the university and practically improve its teaching quality. This paper discusses the thoughts and measures to strengthen the construction and management of grass-roots unit of teaching and improve overall teaching quality through analyzing the practice of the construction and management of automation department.
