Abstract:Guided by the principle of “addressing global issues through internationally accessible discourse”, Cheng Xiangzhan has constructed a theoretical system of ecological aesthetics through critical dialogue with Western environmental aesthetics and creative transformation of the traditional Chinese “sheng sheng” (generative) philosophy. This system is grounded in the “Sheng Sheng Ontology” as its philosophical foundation, centers on “Ecosophy C” as its core value, and establishes “ecological appreciation” as its fundamental paradigm. His ecological aesthetics not only transcends the limitations of relevant Western theories but also endows Chinese ecological aesthetics with profound cultural depth and international dialogical capacity. It provides contemporary Eco-criticism with new discursive tools, value benchmarks, and methodological guidance, promoting the expansion of Eco-criticism from mere phenomenological description to value criticism, and from literary studies to cultural practice. Consequently, it not only enriches the discursive system of Chinese ecological aesthetics but also contributes Chinese wisdom-based solutions to global ecological aesthetics.
