Abstract:The concept of “Sheng Sheng Aesthetics”, proposed by Cheng Xiangzhan, has successfully challenged the dominance of Western discourse in Ecological Aesthetics, reversing the long-standing passive position of “interpreting Chinese culture with western elements” and establishing a theoretical discourse grounded in Chinese intellectual autonomy. Rooted in the philosophy of “philosophy of life”, this aesthetic paradigm naturally aligns with the traditional Chinese mode of cognition embodied in “Listening to Sounds and observing Things”; Moreover, contemporary awareness of acoustic ecology resonates strongly with the internal logic and theoretical implications of the “Sheng Sheng Aesthetics”, offering crucial resources and solid support for the practical creation of the “Beauty of Life”. With their inherent cultural imagination and social formative power, hearing and sound—under the guidance of the core principle of “Coexistence”—hold the potential to contribute to the construction of an acoustic ecological community. Such a community may provide practical path for both the modernization and the international transformation of Chinese ecological aesthetics discourse.
