Abstract:As a new era of aesthetics, ecological civilization aesthetics aims to transcend the disconnection between aesthetic appreciation and social reality that characterized the industrial civilization era, and to rebuild a harmonious aesthetic relationship between humans and nature. The concept of “Taihe”, a classical Chinese philosophical category integrating truth, goodness and beauty, holds theoretical potential as a core ontological concept for ecological civilization aesthetics. Firstly, from the perspective of the ecological justice principle of “preserving and harmonizing Taihe”, ecological civilization must combine the laws of nature with human agency, achieving a unity of social justice and ecological justice by adhering to natural laws and actively maintaining ecological balance. Secondly, in terms of the ecological ethical spirit of “harmonizing virtue with heaven and earth”, the concept of “Taihe” extends ethical responsibility to nature through the cosmology of “unity of all things and self”, forming an ecological ethics centered on holism and moderation. While elevating human subjectivity, it also restrains selfish expansion through cosmic holism, providing an ethical framework that balances humanistic care with ecological sustainability. Finally, from the ontological perspective of “Taihe as the Dao”, ecological civilization aesthetics should discard the aura of aesthetic autonomy and rebuild the intrinsic connection between aesthetic perception, ecological politics, and ecological ethics on the foundation of “Taihe”. By integrating aesthetics, politics and ethics, ecological civilization aesthetics with “Taihe” as its core emphasizes the seriousness and responsibility of aesthetic practice, offering a new aesthetic paradigm that combines traditional wisdom with modern values for the era of ecological civilization.
