Abstract:There are many geographical images in Han Shaogong’s Maqiao Dictionary, which have multi-dimensional symbolic implications. From the philosophy of reverence for nature, the metaphor of spiritual creatures, the representation of the living landscape, to the witness of historical memory, these geographical images show the romantic thinking of “everything has spirit” and the rational cognition of the integration of things and self; As an important carrier to show the profound cultural roots and complex social life of rural China, they revive the ancient charm of Wu Chu culture and farming culture, reveal the survival challenges and cultural transformation of traditional villages under the impact of modernization, and provide a valuable perspective for understanding the complex cultural phenomena of rural society.
