Abstract:Form is an important part of the text, and Eagleton introduces the connection of form and ideology to answer the discourse questions in the text hidden by the existing social order. Eagleton reflected on the elitist position of the new British and American criticism of the form issue, reconnected the form with politics and society from the top to the bottom. This connection needs to be completed in the process of the form embodied into ideology, in which historical events are intercepted, but the fictional text is able to reach a higher truth. This reality is based on the author’s ideology which is determined by the author’s personal experience, and can open the discourse space covered by the social order. The discourse space’s restoration requires the meaning of ideology, and aesthetic criticism is the practical path of restoration.Eagleton’s view of literary form is a deep development of Marx’s literary theory and a response to how to solve the social problems in Britain.
