Abstract:With the help of overseas libraries and database resources, this paper analyzes the acceptance of Ding Ling’s works among readers in the English-speaking world through the translations by governmental agencies and international scholars, as well as the comprehensive evaluation of readers of each translation on websites such as Goodreads, Amazon, StoryGraph. It is found that the acceptance effect of Ding’s works in the English-speaking world is average, and there exists a lot of room for progress. In order to promote Chinese literature to the world, the translation should insist on the view “always translating and always new”; the dissemination should focus on the “Ping, Liang and Zheng”, on viewing the influence of “fan translation” positively, on attracting clout for itself through cross-border cooperation with different forms of dissemination; simultaneously attaching importance to the localization of translations. The acceptance should think about how to realize the reception effect from “Chinajoy” to “Globaljoy”, which is that Chinese literature win the heartfelt love of overseas readers by virtue of their own charm.
