Abstract:Wang Rongpei, an expert in translating Chinese classics into English, translated Laozi and Zhuangzi from a literary perspective, making Taoist classics literary, and a good reception effect has been achieved. He translated traditional Chinese literary works into contemporary English, making Chinese literature contemporary and showcasing its charm. He borrowed traditional Chinese philosophical theories and painting ones to propose the retranslation concept that “being translatable is not an eternal translation” and the translation standard of “conveying spirit and ideas”, enriching the theory of translating Chinese classics into English and the research of traditional Chinese translation theory. Wang Rongpei’s “three transformations” has contributed to the practical and theoretical researches of English translation of Chinese classics, as well as the internationalization of traditional Chinese culture.
