Abstract:Instead of a direct kinship between Christian Fuchs’ digital labour and Marx’s related theories, there is an intermediate link between the two, i.e., Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School. As Christian Fuchs’ digital labour has experienced the evolution process of Western Marxism, an analysis of the theoretical relationship between Fuchs and Critical Theory can reveal a more accurate connotation of Fuchs’ digital labour and its role and position in the development of Western Marxist theories. Based on the reconstruction of Frankfurt’s Critical Theory, Fuchs has established his own thought on digital labour in the logical way of “whether digital labour is alienated labour-how to analyse the alienated state of digital labour microscopically-how to overcome the alienated state of digital labour”. His digital labour has gradually brought the theoretical development of Western Marxism closer to Marx from Frankfurt.
