Abstract:In the past decade, scholars have conducted research on the pre-Qin state governance thoughts from the perspectives of different schools such as Confucianism, Legalism, Taoism, and Mohism, and have achieved plentiful research results. However, there are some flaws with the research such as imbalance in studying different schools, deficiency of critical research on the negative factors of pre-Qin state governance thoughts from various schools, and failure to get out of the conventional Western “modernity” framework. In this regard, further research on the state governance thoughts of the pre-Qin period can be proceeded from three aspects. Firstly, the research should be guided by the value to enhance modernization of state governance. Secondly, the research should uphold the principle of creative transformation and innovative development. Thirdly, it is necessary to increase support for the weak link in existed research.
