Abstract:One of the characteristics of Feng Qi’s annotation of the history of Chinese philosophy is his adherence to the academic standpoint of combining history with theory. The basis for his academic standpoint is as follows. Firstly, philosophy is the summary of the history of philosophy, and the history of philosophy is the development of philosophy. Secondly, the production of the history of philosophy must be consciously guided by a certain philosophical meta-theory. Thirdly, the author of Chinese philosophical history works must be a philosopher and philosophical historian. Feng Qi has experienced half a century of annotating the history of Chinese philosophy by integrating history with theory, from the 1940s in Tsinghua Research Institute of National Southwest Associated University when he was a graduate student, to the days during the 1970s and 1980s in East China Normal University. His academic standpoint of combining history with theory is reflected in his employment of the Marxist philosophy, wisdom theory, and the theory of spiral circle structure.
