Abstract:Yuan Jing, written by Wang Tong in Sui Dynasty, is characterized by the coherence of the narrative, the conciseness of the materials, the prominence of the orthodoxy, and the analogy to the Spring and Autumn Annals in its compilation. It has preserved some historical materials which are not found in the Book of Jin, and some historical materials which are different from those in the Book of Jin; these historical materials can be cross-checked and cross-corroborated with those in the Book of Jin, which are of certain value and worthy of further sorting out and studying. The historical material value of Yuan Jing deserves the attention of the academic circles.
