The “six commitments” put forward in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, profoundly explains the essence of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era from the perspective of world outlook and methodology, and provides methodological guidance for ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era. To do a good job in the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era, it is necessary to have a good grasp of the scientific connotation and the logical relationship of the“six commitments”. The practice path should be broadened to make “six commitments” implemented in the whole process of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era so as to fully carry out the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education.
