The significance of the film Send Me to the Clouds is not to reveal the male domination of Chinese society and show the awakening of women. In context of basic gender equality in China, the film interpreted the independence connotation of contemporary urban women with the image of Sheng Nan, revealed the lonely living situation of them as well as the individual and social reasons of this loneliness, and explored the road of self-realization for independent women, which pushes the image writing of Chinese urban woman to a new level.
