Abstract:The emergence of contemporary Chinese Grassroots Charity Organizations in 1985 was marked by the emergence of organizations such as Guangzhou Zhiling Private School and “Xinwen Schooling-aided Society”. Its emergence was the result of the national system reform in the early period of Reform and Opening up, the emergence of “grey areas”, the widespread needs of vulnerable groups, the awakening of “grassroots forces” and the demonstration of international charity organizations, which reflected the development trend of contemporary Chinese non-governmental charity organizations. The emergence of Chinese grassroots charity organizations in the early period of Reform and Opening up expanded the contemporary Chinese charity field, assisted a group of vulnerable groups, promoted the expansion of volunteerism, made up for the lack of government social security to a certain extent, and played a certain role in the reform of government functions.
