Abstract:Wei Hu is essentially an “autobiographical” novel. Due to the “misreading” of the times and Ding Ling’s many modifications, the autobiographical characteristic of Wei Hu has long been obscured. By reading the first edition of Wei Hu carefully and comparing different versions from the first edition (1930) to the finally revised edition (1981), it is not difficult to find that this novel which once regarded as a literary work of “revolution plus love”, not only truly records the early process of thought and emotion, but also presents the rich mind world of Ding Ling in the turbulent 20th century by the history of version modifications spanning more than 50 years.
