Abstract:Zhang Ling’s novel Tangshan Earthquake, which is rewritten based on her novella Aftershock, fills many gaps left in her previous work. It deeply depicts the original theme of suffering and derives another theme about healing. On the one hand, the work deepens the sense of suffering by adding words to the characters and introducing more characters; On the other hand, it not only deepens the sense of suffering, but also foreshadows the emergence of the theme of healing, so that the theme of this novel has the orientation of healing and forgiveness. The separation and tear of family relations in Tangshan Earthquake is also an important theme of Zhang Ling’s other novels, and the sense of tear and suffering displayed by this theme has become a new strategy for her Chinese writing of migration literature.
