Abstract:The natural resources protection movement in the American Progressive Period triggered the first wave of environmental protection in American history, in which women played an active role, and they promoted the protection of forests, water resources, soil and wildlife and the construction of national parks. As an umbrella organization of women’s clubs in the United States, the National Federation of Women’s Clubs takes natural resources protection as one of its work priorities, and its work goal has changed from focusing on protecting forest and water resources to comprehensively protecting all natural resources, and its environmental protection concept has changed from practical resource protection concept to idealized resource protection concept. The natural resources protection activities, represented by the National Federation of Women’s Clubs, promoted the natural resources protection movement from a political movement dominated by male elites to a bottom-up social movement, which made American women’s influence go deep into the community-level society and political fields, and laid a foundation for women’s political rights and social status improvement.
