Abstract:National form is an important concept in the theory of Mao Zedong Thought, which has very complex theoretical resources. The formation of Mao Zedong’s concept of national form is influenced by Marx’s and Stalin’s national theories as well as Chinese philosophical thoughts. The dual needs of theory and reality is the core driving force of the formation of the concept of national form. On the one hand, the nationalist thought represented by the Kuomintang Three People’s Principles is becoming rigid and difficult to respond to the needs of the times; On the other hand, the Communist Party turned to nationalism in 1930s, calling for the establishment of its own nationalist theory. The combination of the two constitutes the historical context of the formation of Mao Zedong’s concept of national form.
