Abstract:Since the beginning of the 21st century, director Zhang Yimou has successively shot a number of ancient costume historical films, such as Hero, Curse of the Golden Flower, House of Flying Daggers, Shadow, etc. Through extremely stylizing story scenes, character modeling and the using of clothing, erotic elements and extremely stylizing fight scene design, these films created unique Zhang’s audio-visual wonders, which brought people with strong audio-visual pleasure. However, through the text analysis, it is not difficult to find that the preference for the power struggle in the ancient dynasty society, the focus on the tragic feelings caused by people’s desires and obsession, the emphasis on excavating and displaying the dark side of human nature, and the biased view of history make the value orientation of Zhang Yimou’s historical films tend to be negative, which is embodied in their low ideological style, negation of the subjective value of women, and lack of humanistic feelings, which affects the dissemination value of these films to a certain extent.
