Based on the statistics of master and doctoral dissertations of CNKI, rural revitalization has become an important topic for domestic master's and doctoral dissertations. Research on rural cultural revitalization, rural education revitalization, and rural social governance has yielded fruitful results. There are also certain shortcomings, namely although there is a rapid increase in master’s and doctoral dissertations, there is a big gap between the total number of master and doctoral dissertations and the articles published in journals and newspapers; the results have received greater attention but have little influence; the results are mostly applied research, but the basic theoretical research is relatively weak; the research methods are relatively traditional and new technologies and new methods are not taken seriously. In the future, master's and doctoral students should further update their concepts and raise awareness, strengthen multidisciplinary integration at the perspective level, focus on in-depth research at the content level, and strengthen methodological construction at the method level.
