Abstract:Water Margin describes the story of the occurrence and development of the peasant uprising army headed by Song Jiang in the late Northern Song Dynasty. Dang Kou Zhi describes the story of the demise of the Liangshan Uprising Army. The content of the two works is similar, but themes are different. The peasant uprising army in Water Margin and Dang Kou Zhi both choose to accept amnesty and they end up in tragedy, but the degree of tragedy is different. Water Margin makes affirmative descriptions of the peasant uprising army from the aspects of vitality, government persecution and resistance. Dang Kou Zhi completely negates the peasant uprising, and describes the possibility of claiming to be an emperor of the rebellious leader and the cruelty of the army. From the perspective of artistic performance, the narrative of Water Margin is clear, and it fully shapes the heroes of the uprising, depicting the characteristics of the characters from many angles; Dang Kou Zhi lacks the portrayal of the characters, but its language is refined and the narrative is wonderful.
