Abstract:Chen Pingyuan is a representative scholar who has made outstanding achievements in the field of intertextuality between pictures and texts in our country. In the long-term practice of intertextuality between pictures and texts, he has published a series of distinctive works of intertextuality between pictures and texts, forming a unique thought of intertextuality between pictures and texts. According to the difference between serious academic works and popular works, Chen Pingyuan advocates that compilers should adopt two different compilation strategies of limited image historical materials and illustrated image historical materials, and pay attention to full humanistic care consciousness in the selection of image historical materials. Chen Pingyuan believes that in the process of compiling intertextual works of pictures and texts, compilers should choose as much image historical materials as possible that fit the historical era and are close to the historical scene. He also paid attention to examining the image historical materials from the great culture perspective, and tried to see through the social and cultural psychology of a specific period on the basis of the image historical materials taken to the utmost extent. Chen Pingyuan’s intertextuality thought between pictures and texts promoted the diversification of newspaper research in the late Qing Dynasty, enriched the aesthetic and historical concepts of Chinese literature research, and had important academic methodological significance.
