The place name Chenzhou comes from Zhuanshu in Qin dynasty. In the middle of the Warring States period, Linyi state was set here in the Chu dynasty, and Chen County was set here in Qin dynasty. At the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, it was divided into the southern counties of Changsha County, Guiyang County and Chen County. Its political district place names, including Xuanfeng, Dunhua, Chenzhou, Chenyang and Su Xian , all have the historical and cultural origin to be tested.
