Abstract:He Dun’s new novel Happiness Street shows the social and historical changes of nearly 60 years since the founding of New China, and describes the different life destinies of various characters, taking the life of two generations in the towns and villages of southern Hunan as clues. The characters in the works reflect the important influence of politics and economy on the good and evil of human nature and the direction of individual development, whether they are unable to be independent and drift with the tide, or unwilling to sink or move forward. Through the description of ordinary people’s daily life, the novel reflects the absurdity and disorder of a specific era peacefully, which has profound meaning.
