Through a diachronic and synchronic comparison analysis of Shapiro’s 18 translated works, this article finds out that Shapiro always maintains his deep love for China, keeps clear readership awareness and adopts harmonic strategies. To be specific, in his translation, Shapiro expresses his admiration for the Chinese Communist Party as well as his appreciation and love for Chinese culture; he masters the differences between Chinese and western language and culture; he pays obvious attention to the target readers’ reading habits and interests; he achieves a sound balance between the faithfulness and the acceptability of the translated texts as well as arrives at an appropriate mediation between Chinese and Western language and culture.
