    摘要:

    鸦片战争以后,围绕翻译是“科学性”还是“艺术性”的活动这一问题,近代中国的翻译理论研究呈现出百家争鸣的态势。翻译的“科学论”从晚清意译达旨的翻译风气中悄然萌芽,翻译的“艺术论”在进一步对翻译策略和美学艺术的探索中逐步确立,两者共同构建了近代中国独具特色的翻译理论体系。翻译“科学论”与“艺术论”的发展不仅对中国现当代的翻译实践具有重要的指导作用,更推动了白话语言规范的变格,我国的翻译研究开始显现出体系化的趋势并日渐走向成熟。

    Abstract:

    After the Opium War in 1840, all schools of thoughts contended for attention in the theoretic study of translation in China. They all focused on whether the translation is an activity of science or an activity of artistry. The scientific approach of translation sprouted in the late Qing Dynasty when the free translation was in the dominant place. The artistic approach of translation was established through the further exploration of translation strategies and aesthetics. These two approaches had jointly formed the distinctive translation theory structure in modern China. The development of both “scientific approach” and “artistic approach” has not only helped to reform the society of modern China, but also promoted the variations of vernacular norms. Thus, the translation study in China went towards a systematic trend and gradually grew mature.
