Abstract:The fivecharacter rhyming poems of Wang Wei and Meng Haoran are generally similar, but their styles are different. Their poems are both “clear”, but Wang Weis are more colorful; Wang Wei uses both ancient poems and rhyming poems, but Meng mostly uses the former; Wang can include Meng, but Meng can not. Wang Meng School of poetry is also divided into two main lines. On the one hand, Zu Yong, Qiwu Qian, Lu Xiang and so on are similar to Wang Wei, who not only carried forward the poetic traditions of the Han and Wei dynasties, but also learns from the poetic rules of the Six Dynasties. On the other hand, Chu Guangxi, Chang Jian, Liu JianXu and so on are similar to Meng Haoran, who directly inherited the light and elegant poetic style of the Han and Wei dynasties. The poetic school of Wang Wei and Meng Haoran has always been praised as the representative of the authentic aesthetic style of the fivecharacter rhyming poems, the fundamental reason is that their poems are the most “appropriate” and in line with the aesthetic characteristics of the fivecharacter rhyming poems.
