Abstract:There are many classic “train” images in the twentieth century. “Train” images in eastern and western movie television literature of the twentieth Century can be divided into two types: one is as good as the symbol of modern civilization, the good imagination; the other is otherwise regarded as the symbol of evil. This contrast is very contradictory, but also full of tension. From “train” images in the twentieth century, we can see Chinese people’s collective impact and feeling when they are confronted with the force of modernity, their vision and anxiety in the pursuing of modernization and their complex imagination of modern civilization.
