Abstract:“Officialdom novels” continue more of the popular literature, but the narrative style of civilian perspective has led to the tension of narrative ethics. Due to the loss of the past and future dimensions, Traditional Chinese Painting and other series of officialdom novels, focusing on revealing the rules of officialdom games in a “seeking novelty” way since the end of 1970s when the reform and opening up started, have always been unable to establish a positive character image. The emphasis on “people” and “human nature” of Traditional Chinese Painting is gradually explored in the narrative, and the relationship between people and officialdom also interact in different historical contexts.
