Two volumes of Qu Ou Xi Mo, which was originally named “Writings of Jin Men Dong Hai Qu Ou”, was a selection works published by the Tianjin writer Xu Shiluan in late Qing Dynasty in 1885. But with reference to the personal autobiography of Xu Shiluan, analyzing from the preface, content to details of the book , it is easy to find that “Dong Hai Qu Ou” is actually a pseudonym of Xu Shiluan himself. Qu Ou Xi Mo doesn’t only reveal the rarely-known life experiences of Xu Shiluan, but also expresses the complex and contradictory thoughts and feelings in his late years. Therefore, it has important historical value for the study of Xu Shiluan.
