In mainland China, contemporary mainstream literature is lack of works about frontal battlefield in Anti-Japanese War, and the reflection on the history about Kuomintang army fighting against the Japanese is not sufficient. Hedun`s novel See You Next Life faced the history about KMT Army against the Japanese，recorded the specific courses of battles against Japanese invaders in Hunan province，those of which effectively resisted the collective oblivion in both reality and literature. The novel told a story about a KMT junior officer`s lifetime. By reducing the identity of the protagonist to farmer at the bottom of society, the writer broke the common growth patterns of war novels, and used nested structure to form the tension and promote the anti-hero narrative, which contributed to reveal the shocking cruelty of war, and expressed sharp anti-war position forcefully.
