Abstract:Toni Morrison’s Mercy describes the spiritual trauma of various races under the enslavement of early 17th century in the New Continent. Based on Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis, this novel discusses the thematic thoughts of psychoanalysis from Morrison’s Freudian complex, the characterization of characters, the free association of its structure and aesthetic blank.
