Abstract:Every culture has its own unique and symbolic central theme. As for Canadian literature, even the national culture, it is characterized by the symbol of survival. Alice Munro, the representative of the contemporary Canadian literature, mainly focuses her works on the regional lives in the area of southwestern Ontario, especially women who are in the constant struggle of life. These women survive the plight of life on their persistence and endurance. By describing the survival state of women, Munro creates “her” unique stories of survival.
