Abstract:It is significant to make a diachronic analysis of Howard Goldblatt’s translation of Mo Yan’s novels in the past twenty years. Based on the diachronic analysis of stage characteristics and publishing status in the translation versions and Goldblatt’s translating style, it finds the acceptance of translating versions in overseas influence their publishing status, there are stage characteristics of Goldblatt’s translating process similar to Mo Yan’s writing course, and the change of translating style in different stage. The developing and changing rules of Goldblatt’s translation of Mo Yan’s novels can be drawn successfully and rewarding lessons from developing stage of translating versions, publishing process of translating versions, and translator’s translating style for modern and ontemporary Chinese literature going global.
