Wei Jianmei once was named “建美” which means developing a beautiful world. But now “剑美” suggests his literary ideal, that is, he manages to dissect the negative phenomena of inequality, official corruption, moral decay, and improper education with the “sword” of essays and ideas and expose the hidden ugly soul to people. He reveals an extrusive problem in Chinese culture——bureaucracy and privilege. It seems that the official position can control everything such as fame and right; even it becomes a measuring standard of one’s value and an inducement of one’s decadence. Wei Jianmei attempts to remind people of the new and different lifestyle through elaborating and illustrating these social phenomena.
