According to the operation status of ten websites in central and eastern China, some grass-root courts’ websites are currently characterized by many wild column settings, overwhelming quantity of information, low public visit and social approval degree. The basic function of court’s website, such as judicial publicity and litigation service, are gradually weakened and even lost, whereas the law popularization seems to become the predominant function. By the correct value idea, scientific design principle and effective evaluation system, the websites of grass-root courts can be rationally returned to its original and powerful function. For the grass-root courts, the main function of websites should be linked with the judicial openness, convenient service and public participation in order to guarantee the judicial protection for the citizen’s rights to know, participate, express and supervise.
