Mencius revived in the Song dynasty with criticism. Li Gou is the pioneer of criticizing Mencius in the Song dynasty. He criticized Mencius from such aspects as history concepts, connection between Confucius and Mencius, and theory of human nature, which played an enlightening role in promoting the development of Mencius thoughts in Song dynasty.
