Abstract:The Inscription of Yan Xun in Shizhuan Mountain provides a lot of historical information. Based on the detailed analysis of the context,it is clear that there was no Fohui temple in Song dynasty.Yan Xun could not control the whole family’s assets after separation,so his endowment could only be used for his life and building statues, So no money left to support the temples and monks.Yan Xun's sons didn't support him and they would divide equally the mountain land rather than give it to the temple.Monk Xi Zhou was just Yan Xun's relative or a monk he admired. He was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of the stone statute but not the first abbot of Fohui Temple. In the Ming dynasty, the temple was rebuilt and a story on“Fohui Temple”was intentionally fabricated by monks for economic benefits.
