Due to Zhuzhou's unique geographical advantages and long history and culture，many progressive youths studied and worked out of Zhuzhou and actively participated the May 4th Movement to seek revolutionary truth during the founding period of CPC. With the guidance of Mao Zedong, Li Dazhao and other revolution instructors as well as the great importance attached by CPC Hunan branch, a group of progressive intellectuals and workers gradually grew into firm Marxists and strong communist fighters, so Zhuzhou was one of the areas owing the largest number of Party members in China during the founding period of CPC .
