Shangshi is a very unique novel of Lu Xun. In the ideology and stylistic form, it is different with the new youth narrative popular at the time and the new literary cavity, which shows the author's unique ideas, and insight of the fossility and illusoriness of modern intellectual youth. The conflict between the style of the new literary cavity and Lu Xun's philosophy of personal expression in this novel lead to the inner contradictions and irony of its stylistic form.
