Wang Meng was a controversial writer. His words and actions, his trends of thoughts and the responses of literary and thinking worlds have generated an obvious “Wang Meng Phenomenon”. From the surface, Wang Meng’s life experiences and multi-layered identity were the major factors of “Wang Meng Phenomenon”. Nevertheless, the formation of his literary thoughts and the major spiritual qualities and way of thoughts bore an obvious post-revolutionary trait—rational, tolerate, multi-layered. His literary thoughts formed one of the fundamental basis of survey and judge of the literary world on the trends of literature after “Cultural Revolution”.
