A House on the Mango Street, the representative work of Mexican-American woman writer, Sandra Cisneros, attempts to offer an ideal sociopolitical paradigm for the minority women in sad straits from a unique cultural perspective. Through deconstructing traditional female identity, exploring a new female identity and looking forward to the future, with the help of a little girl's spiritual experience, Cisneros intends to help all women to break through the traditional restraints and to be the real masters of themselves.
