Net news headline is the first, and perhaps the only, impression made on website visitors. Without re-creation, the Chinese translation of an English net news headline may fail to lure its prospective readers into the body text. Combined with some typical examples, this paper probes into the reasons for re-creation in net news headlines translation from the perspective of the Communication Theory, and proposes three ways to be re-creative in producing compelling net news headlines: proper addition and deletion; appropriate wording; skillful use of rhetorical devices.
