Abstract:As a manipulator, a translator will not copy language from one text into another, but rather conform to the prevalent standard of the target language while creatively making use of his linguistic repertoire, thus displaying distinctive linguistic styles. In this way the translation language is made to develop and evolve continuously. The paper, by analyzing different translated versions of The Isles of Greece before and after the May 4th Movement and the linguistic background in which they were translated, attempts to show the shift of translation language from Chinese language convention to English language style which reflects the perspective of translation language in translation practice and embodies the turn of Chinese language taste in the last century.
