The writing process of Moment in Peking by Lin Yutang is peculiar, which could be called “translation writing”. This writing feature is confirmed by the names and appellations of characters, culturally-loaded words and proverbs, and the quotes of Chinese classical poems in the novel. Translation writing takes both usual practices in Chinese expression and comprehensive abilities of western readers into account. In this way, it enables the novel to not only correspond with western readers' reading habits, but also retain Chinese cultural characteristics. However, Lin Yutang failed to coordinate the diversities between different cultures and languages perfectly, which inevitably left deficiencies in the manifestation of Chinese cultural immanence.
