Abstract:During his term as the governor of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, Zuo Zongtang once wrote a tomb inscription for a gentry of Liling county. This inscription was recorded in the family book of a Tan family, but not written into the Complete Works of Zuo Zongtang. Obviously it's a lost article of him. The discovery this tomb inscription provides the most reliable evidence for confirming the controversial time when Zuo Zongtang hosted the Lujiang Academy. Based on this, many other historical facts can be amended.
