As a unique original folk art of Naxi Dongba religion in Yunnan of China, Dongba wooden painting has a long history and wide varieties. It could be divided into different categories according to the different shapes, materials and functions. On the basis of the theme, the wooden paintings could mainly be classified into the themes of gods, ghosts and animals. As the important vehicle of Dongba culture, wooden painting vividly demonstrated Naxi people,s psychological states and ideas, among which the most prominent is the life concept about five elements of color and the worship of heaven and earth.
